About Havyatt Farm LibraryHavyatt Farm, in the Northern Rivers district of New South Wales, Australia, is the home of Anthony Havyatt. This property is named after Havyatt Farm in Havyatt Road, Wrington, United Kingdom. My grandfather, then known as Harry Leopold Spratt, spent time there with his mother’s relatives during the First World War recuperating after being gassed in the trenches. He was eventually repatriated to New Zealand. In 1929, when the family moved from New Zealand to Sydney, Australia, his wife insisted on taking the opportnity to change the name, (he was universally known as Dick, and hence Dick Spratt). He chose Havyatt because of the family connection. It is a bit grand to call this property a farm, it is actually a small acreage with a lovely river frontage. The owner, Anthony Havyatt, has been a book collector since an early age, and this website is simply his personal catalogue. This is not a lending library. It does help to make sure that duplicaate books are not purchased, as the catalogue is available on his smart phone. It also helps to locate books rapidly, as there are in excess of two thousand books! The collection covers health and fitness, cooking, botany and horticulture, computer science and programming, art, handicrafts, railways and many other interests of the owner and his partner.
